Randomania eye candy – but then…

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Hmm..I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something…my intention for this post was just to find some inspiration eye candy to give me a shot of yummy!

BUT… then I realised the images that I was collecting were all of desky work spaces. Hmm…what could this mean?

I wonder if its got anything to do with the current state of my desk which is currently sky high with crap and rendering me kinda unworkable? Ya think?

Anyway, here are some worky area eye candy so I can ponder them and perhaps plan for the overhaul that’s long overdue…

Oh, and I’m completely ignoring the impracticalities of some of these and just looking at the cool…

Psst – I think this desk by Robert Hirsh architects is just genius! It would be perfect for my little desk set up and could help in saving my sanity by being able to close up after a looong day! (as I work from home – this can sometimes be a sanity issue!)

Texture Junkie #2 – Wallpaper. yup, that is textured!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

So now is number 2 of my semi-regular ‘Texture Junkie’ posts. Today I am ALL about textured wallpaper.

Not patterned though… I’m talking plain, textured and lovely! I love it!

In my humble opinion, textured wallpaper adds a touch of soul to a room! Warms it up without screaming “Yo, check ME out, I’m all over this joint!”

Any way, without further adieu..

kitchen of TV show Brothers & Sisters -I love the show & LOVE Rachel Griffiths! -i have a little fanatsy of doing her house - her being a Melbourne Girl!!

Gorgeous kitchen of TV show 'Brothers & Sisters'

Just a little off topic! Only a small side step really!! Cause technically (just If you wanna get all picky on me!) – I DO still see gorgeous textured walls behind them!!! -’Them’ being the fabulous Rachel Griffiths & Sally Field from US TV show “Brothers & Sisters“.

Its a good show, I dig it! Interesting story – something for all really – romance, politics, death and betrayal!- but what I especially dig is the mamma’s house! and I mean lurve love!  Its quite fabulous really!

Sadly I couldn’t find any better photos to share and show you why its worthy of a mention.  Watch the show and you will see what I mean!

….

Ok, so now I’m going really off topic! I LOVE Rachel Griffiths! She won me over many many years ago when I was a young high school student, excited to not be in class and watching a travelling theatre group perform!

A few years later, I saw her again perform live as a rollerskating dog in a  Melbourne Theatre Company production “Sylvia”.  She had me for life after that!

Who wouldn’t love a rollerskating dog I gotta ask?!

Hmm…I wonder if she will ever move back to Melbourne town?!

Ok, slightly off topic!...Another pic from the set of Brothers & Sisters. Such a lovely house! It kinda hurts me that its not real!

Back on topic now! I want to hang out in each and every one of these spaces.

Yeah, TV set included!!… Wouldn’t be weird at all!!

Pondering one of life’s big questions.

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Here at Designalogue Blog, we ponder life’s BIG questions. You know the important stuff.

Today’s post is no exception. Today we will explore bedside tables.

“Huh?” I hear you say. “THATS a Big question?!” to which I retort, “Have you thought about the endless choices available? ALL the options, Have you?!”

Its a BIG impact of what seems to be a simple decision.

I have spent a lot of time of late thinking about bedside tables. A LOT of time (-um, Yeah. I’m a deep thinker!)

But I’m going to be looking for some new bedside tables for the fella and I soon. So I’m thinking about what actually I want in a bedside table: Decorative? Functional? Spacious? Compact?

Its a BIG decision you know! I mean, it will effect a lot of future decisions: Such as what kind of bedside lamp – big, little, desky. Do I have room for a book, water and a pencil? you see, there IS a lot to consider!!

So I’m asking myself:

Do I want to go with this kind of table – a little Rococo type number? I COULD easily re paint to my colour whims!

Living Etc

Or do I want a compact little decorative number like this pretty table?

Living Etc

Do I want to go dark & moody with uber storage like this one?:

Living Etc

I’m pretty sure this one isn’t going to suit my lifestyle, but should I discount it so easily JUST because its a wee one?

Living Etc

Do I want a little colour in my table?

Do I need to be thinking about a bit of sassy bedside storage?

Perhaps I should go the sensible kinda non committal, could go either way kinda number?

g

Or the simple space keeper?

Or, do I rethink the entire bed head and go for built in storage simplicity?

Or, COULD be a good excuse to use some gorgeous fabrics – I DO have quite the stash hidden away!

Or, this type of ‘sensible’ table?

Or, what about an interesting twist! and OVER height! it certainly would fit a book and a glass of water!

Or, maybe I want to go antique?

And ALL this and I haven’t even started thinking about drawers or cupboards!!!

So you see, this really IS a big question!

Stay tuned, (but don’t hold your breath!) I will let you know which way I go!

When I am looking at designers and stylists portfolios, I always love looking at the bits and pieces they use to style up the shot!

My favorite accessory is fruit! An instant shot of freshness!
