In the current issue of Australian shelter mag Inside Out, there is photographic proof of what I have long suspected is true. The Truman show is real, and yes, I am the star of it.

Can you pick it up where you are in the world?!!! Do you get reception?

Anyway, the photographic proof of which I speak is a house that has long been in MY head: the location – Byron Bay Hinterland (soooo beautiful there), the of view of rolling hills I desire to stare out at, just the whole sensibility of the joint being a well thought out sustainable build and I even dig the frisky red rabbit keeping an eye on things!

If it turns out the Truman/Camilla show isn’t a happening (ah, doubt that!), then the architect and current* home owner  Sharon Fraser and I are kindred spirits cause I love it so.

The bunny is on the lookout for me!

Are sunken lounges making a come back?

Yeah, those are views I could look at.

Not such a bad scene to wake up to

Now this, is very cool indeed.

If you are wanting the TV to be the focus of the room its just like magic-now you see it… but suddenly there is more to life and you don’t want the tele to be the focus of all – so whoosh and kaboom and now you don’t!

If that doesn’t quite explain to your liking, then try this instead: Using a mechanical rope and pulley system, the painting moves up or down to cover the TV screen or not. The concept is way impressive anyway – but then in this case its a painting of fish – well, that just rocks my world people!

This rocks my world

Obviously for those who know me once I move in there will be many many more cushions (Yes, this yet another admission of ‘interior’ addictions I have)  undoubtedly  more colour and general stuff -you know a nick-nak or two!!! But I am confident it will still do it all justice!

And so how about a round of applause for my first scan job here at Designalogue!!!

Oh thank you, thank you! Now if I can only work out how to capture an image in a site using Flash……. (you people seem to do so, but I no can!)

*current – consider this marching orders! I’m moving in – oh but don’t freak out or anything i will be nice about it all!!

And now back to the pretty…

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

After some serious moments I need me some more pretty to look at.

I spied this fabulousness over at Simply Grove and new it was an image I would be happy to look at over and over. Ahh.

Last year I did just a day course of basket weaving with my lovely mumma, we both came away with a small curl-less than a palm size of wool and dried grass…nothing on these gorgeousies! Makes me appreciate the workmanship in each one that much more.

Looking at it again – its either a HUGE wall, or a tiny chaise!?!

Im checking in.

And good luck checking me outta there….

I spied this over at Dales’ HDI Blog and felt the need to on-share as it makes me sigh with a heart warming AHH. I love it. I love it. I just love it. I want to jump on that bed and wrap myself in the rainbow blanket before my eyes.

Hmm. Too much?

This bed of yum is one of Missoni’s ‘designer’ hotels set to open in both Edinburgh or Kuwait later in the year and also explains the Missoni product all over it!

I’m checking me in, but think I will head Edinburgh way, as Kuwait is still a little close to the action for my comfort!

You know, I’ve been pondering a lately: I wonder what it means that I am a girl who is pretty much dressed head to toe in black day after day -HATES wearing colour, but have decorated my own home with a HEAP of colour? Really, is there a psychological issue here?

Oh mother Oprah, show me the way…

Maybe she could do an ‘expose’ on people who need colour?

Just saying, thats all.

Oh and another thing I feel the need to on-share. In case you lot over in other parts of the blogosphere world think I’m all crazy with the spelling – fear not, here in Australia – we spell colour with the U in it.

We also drive on the other side of the road to you and supposedly our water goes down the drain clockwise to your anti-clockwise.

Don’t judge, diversity is a GOOD thing people!

Oh other non country specific spelling mistakes are just part of the quaint gal I am!!

And they’re off…

So I’m STILL on the Spring carnival band wagon… turns out I may a little enthusiasm for it after all!

The big race is tomorrow, the one that its all about-’The Melbourne Cup’ – the race that stops a nation! -so they say! (Oh, did I mention Its even a public holiday!)

Of course its as much, well probably more so, about the ‘fillies’ in frocks than the ‘fillies’ on the field! But all I am interested in and scour the papers to see a glimpse of, are the corporate marquees. Big brand companies go ALL out in budget and fluff to create a super space of fabulousness!

Very often in the really fabulous marquees, the creative genius behind the design and implementation is clever lass Amanda Henderson, of Gloss Creative. She is a bit clever!

Check out a few pics from last years carnival -so you know what I am on about!:

Pics via Indesign here

Kinda heart breaking to think that these incredible spaces only exist for a few days…a bit sad really!

I was unable to find any images of this years fancey pants marquees, but I will keep you in the loop when I do!

So you have quite possibly seen all these pictures before -so apologies for hacking them out once again! But I would feel like a home town traitor if I didn’t spread the word!!

And so of course it has to be said, whilst we are here in lovely Melbourne town, where some horses are running around fast,  A far more important race is nearing a close on the other side of the globe in the US.

So just a shout out to my blogger friends in the states: Please do me proud and vote right!

And by ‘right’ of course I mean left!!

And the Oscar goes to…

I’ve just had like a mini heart attack or something. It was brought on by the extreme excitement of the parcel that arrived this morning.

Admittedly this is far more exciting for me, and most likely wont raise your heart rate too much, but as its been established in previous posts – its all about ME anyway!!!!!!

So this parcel of great excitement is the 500ish page book of Interior awesomeness and extreme fabulousness in the form of this years “Oscars of the Design World” (they say! -and yeah, I’d agree!)  -Andrew Martin Design Review (volume 12)

If you haven’t seen this or any of the past issues, just picture in your mind a HUGE book, choc-a-block full of gorgeous interiors and fabulousness created by designers from all around the globe.

As Well as the pictorial fabulousness, its also full of amusing and witty tit bits about each designers.

Some examples to share with you of these witty titbits:

“At ease with his own perfection, he cites modesty as his best feature…”

“Surgically attached to his Tag Heuer watch, he fantasizes about Tyra Bank’s bedroom…”

“A volatile designer with a penchant for leather aprons and a love of abundance, Giano believes that a tan is the answer to most of his body anxieties. With his sea blue eyes and tuxedo shirt, he is happiest contemplating the ocean or flying in his dreams…just thinking of babies makes him weep”

“Hedayet has a love of excess, burgers and Quaker oats: Dina has a serious sugar habit and admits her social life could do with some input”

Ahh see! Its witty I tells you! And far more interesting than page after page of “I took inspiration from every second crater in the moon… the ‘vision’… ooh the ‘textures’….blah blah blah    (oh, um,  I just realised that sometimes in client meetings I can sound a little like that…oh dear!!)

So to share a little, and show you that it IS really a reason to be TOTALLY excited by, here are some random pics I have taken to show you that this IS worthy of a ‘moment’!!

An Olympic idea.

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I wanted to do a post in honour of the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing that start today.

Sadly I couldn’t think of anything relevant. Maybe I need this specialized ‘Ideas’ machine for some help. Pretty cheap ideas!
