Just so you know…

It would be OK with me if I lived in a house with a window and view like this.

And so now you do know!

Texture Junkie – I’m all about the diamonds

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Now this is the kinda bling that gets me saying I do. Oh YES, indeed I do!

Diamond Buttoning… its just so, SO pretty and I think I can make the commitment to love looong time!

So maybe its a bit of a stretch to include this in the Texture Junkie category – but it kinda works!

And the Oscar goes to…

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

I’ve just had like a mini heart attack or something. It was brought on by the extreme excitement of the parcel that arrived this morning.

Admittedly this is far more exciting for me, and most likely wont raise your heart rate too much, but as its been established in previous posts – its all about ME anyway!!!!!!

So this parcel of great excitement is the 500ish page book of Interior awesomeness and extreme fabulousness in the form of this years “Oscars of the Design World” (they say! -and yeah, I’d agree!)  -Andrew Martin Design Review (volume 12)

If you haven’t seen this or any of the past issues, just picture in your mind a HUGE book, choc-a-block full of gorgeous interiors and fabulousness created by designers from all around the globe.

As Well as the pictorial fabulousness, its also full of amusing and witty tit bits about each designers.

Some examples to share with you of these witty titbits:

“At ease with his own perfection, he cites modesty as his best feature…”

“Surgically attached to his Tag Heuer watch, he fantasizes about Tyra Bank’s bedroom…”

“A volatile designer with a penchant for leather aprons and a love of abundance, Giano believes that a tan is the answer to most of his body anxieties. With his sea blue eyes and tuxedo shirt, he is happiest contemplating the ocean or flying in his dreams…just thinking of babies makes him weep”

“Hedayet has a love of excess, burgers and Quaker oats: Dina has a serious sugar habit and admits her social life could do with some input”

Ahh see! Its witty I tells you! And far more interesting than page after page of “I took inspiration from every second crater in the moon… the ‘vision’… ooh the ‘textures’….blah blah blah    (oh, um,  I just realised that sometimes in client meetings I can sound a little like that…oh dear!!)

So to share a little, and show you that it IS really a reason to be TOTALLY excited by, here are some random pics I have taken to show you that this IS worthy of a ‘moment’!!

You see?  It IS something to get excited by!  Ahh, its the best $150 bucks of inspiration Ive spent (well, THIS week!!)

A girl can dream…

So It has been decided.

The ‘fella’, trevur the cat and I are packing up stumps and moving house.

Don’t know where too yet, but we have had enough of our idiot landlord and so we are moving on – Oh, and I mean that with with NO respect to him whatsoever!

So before I look for the ‘reality’ home that I will soon have to do – which will not be any fun at all and no interest at all to you folk, I am putting together my dream ‘wish list’ for the new pad!

So in my dream wish list, I have me enough space to switchyroo the furniture around as per my whim.

And as its my dream, I’m able to change sofas as per the season.

This fabulous kinda number will be my sofa for the cooler snugly months:

And then this sofa will do me for the hotter months:

OR,

I could just have a massive loungey area like this one: and have summer/spring on one side of the room, and winter/Autumn on the other!

Hmm, I like it!

Both the ‘fella’ and I work from home. A lill office like this one would allow me to spread all my sample mess just fine.

(minus the panton chairs – just aint my thing!)

(cant remember where this one came from – had in my files a while!)

And  fella can have a man study office thingy  like this: -just insert a few computer screens and bits of nerdy  technology  and I’m sure he would be happy!

I wouldn’t say no to a groovy little nook perfect for perusing of mags and a newspaper!

And ideally would have yet another reading spot again for the fella to read all his nerdy computer books and what not!!

I wouldn’t hate it if the bathroom was like this – complete with the high-dive photo et all.

But maybe the bath could be more like this:

And goes without saying, a light box in the garden by the lap pool to pretty it up at day and night!

Ahh, this fantasy life sure is a nice place to be.

Its a shame the reality is quite a different story….

Just a quickie Happy Birthday message to my lovely big ‘sista’ Jasy!

As well as being a lovely sister and friend – she breeds extremely beautiful babies!!

So in honour of being lovely, here is your present!….TA DA!

A bit of eye candy for you to enjoy!

I imagine your mouth is watering at just the thought of shoving all sorts of sticks and all sorts of smelly dried stuff in those drawers!!!!!

He knows what he’s doing

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

If you gave me a verbal description of this house:  Canary yellow walls, bright blue ceiling, timber veneered dining room, black marble fireplace – I would most likely have smiled at you ever so sweetly and thought to myself – EW, someones stuck in 1985 …or thereabouts (hey – don’t get time specific picky on me!)

But it works! – I really dig it!

Its no wonder really. It is the work of a clever Melbourne designer Geoffrey Browne who is well known in these parts for his design fabulousness! He knows what he is doing – Indeed!

He has no website (that I can find) to show more of his fabulousness – so you will just have to trust me when I tell you he is a clever fella with a whole lotta gorgeousness strings in his bow!!

There are a few pieces I could live with out – Romanesque columns for one, but overall I think its a whole lotta fabulousness!

I know in reality I couldn’t really live with a white sofa – (I cant even wear white due to the spillage factor – Im a mess, its true!) but this white buttoned number does things to me… and the canary yellow -i want more, more, more! Ahh…

It is in fact currently for sale details here

The big questions…

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

So I’ve told you before how here at Designalogue we ask some of life’s BIG questions. Well today is by no means an exception to this!!:

A friend of mine Ms Timmy, emailed me with a question the other day - ”Is it rude to pop a note in someone’s letterbox asking them to contact you with the colour names they have used painting their house?  Or should I just take a photo and take it to the store to get it colour matched?”

Personally I don’t think so. I think I would be flattered. But wondering if I am in the minority here?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

 No…its a floating whale!

No, you are NOT having one of those ‘special‘ flashbacks!!!! What you see is real – or will be in 2009 when this floating hotels’ prototype will be in the skies near you! (well – that is if you live along the Paris -Rome route!)

I saw this over at Dales Hospitality & Design blog & couldn’t resist to on-post!

Stop by Dales’ blog to check out the video and more info on French designer Jean-Marie Massauds’  ’Manned Cloud’ spaceship.

How weirdly cool, odd/frightening this is!!

And exhale…
