Warehouse happenings

Thursday, October 25th, 2012

And so here I am!

I thought it was about time to share some happenings that have been keeping me busy of late & I’ve been busy!

One of my current projects is a pretty cool warehouse conversion. I  cant wait to show you more of that, but for now we will make do with some pictures taken mostly on my phone  for now.

(Psst – I think its long been established that I am a terrible photographer- look past the blurs people!)

I was so excited when this wallpaper was installed on site. Look closely.

This is in the master bedroom! Oh yes!

This is a snippet of the powder room upstairs. I think the tap is super sexy. but so is the basin. And the tiles!

This is the ensuite down stairs.  As you can clearly tell by this picture – its not finished, nor was it styled!! But I couldn’t not share! The stone bath, mosaic tiles & custom coloured tap ware – its a pretty special place to be!

Upstairs its all happening too!

We’ve got some pressed metal action in the ceiling & one the facing which makes me happy to look at! And the up-stand (which I was so excited about seeing out of my head that I had a ‘moment’ when it was installed!)  is a huge piece of reclaimed timber that was previously used as part of the near by Princess Pier. Its so chunky & delicious. Yes, I am saying that a giant chunky piece of wood is delicious!  Actually when I was first discussing this with my brilliant cabinet maker, he made a note that ‘it had to be the dream piece of wood’! He was taking the piss ofcourse – but as long as I got my point across Im happy!! & he delivered!

This just gives another view of the up-stand. I loves it hard.

In the living room we are waiting on some new furniture still, but this will give you a small idea of whats going on over there. And yep, that pole there is what you are thinking!

Its a house with a lot of character & been so excellent to work on! Still a fair bit to happen before its all done – but i just couldnt wait to share some of what has been chocking up my brain space of late!

I will also be sharing soon some other projects – very polar oposite to this one that have been keeping me busy!

So pretty in pink

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Almost a year ago I posted here about a hot pink velvet chair I really really really wanted to do for a project I was working on as it was just perfect for the project – perfect I tells you! It didn’t look like it was going to happen due to boring things in life like budgets (yawn!), but then…the clouds parted, the sun shone through & here tis!  A very lucky little little lass (as in a 4 year old little lass!) has a very pretty chair in her beautiful room!  Its as good as I knew it would be & it makes me happy!

Just to clarify, it also makes the baby mamma happy  and the little lass whose room it is also was quite excited by it…perhaps not as much as a new kitten or battery operated something would’ve – she is only 4, & 4 year olds generally dont get as antz pantz excited as someone like me does about furniture!

In the same room the bedhead was also something I was eagerly waiting on! So in the spirit of sharing, have a looksee: beautiful chocolatey linen with feature buttons in pink & white stripe for just a lil bit of sumpin sumpin! & the cushions are bit of  eye candy too!

So thats todays deliveries for your perusal! I will be back soon to share lots of other exciting things that have been happening over in my part of the world!

But  thats enough about me – whats been happening with you?!

Deep in thought

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

I’ve been spending a fair bit of time this last week thinking about knobs.

Oh no not that kind of knob you filthy minx… I’m thinking about cabinetry knobs.

Searching for some decent looking knobs (hey, stop it!) led me to these little numbers. They will look pretty special on some custom cabinetry I’ve got in the works.

For real, they will!

Still thinking about knobs.  This time  door knobs.

Did you know that the majority of door knobs on the market nowadays are pretty ugly?

Fact. (well opinion, but its my blog – so my way!)

Just when you thought I was solely thinking about knobs.  (don’t go there!) I also thought about towel rails.

This squared and simple number will fit perfectly into the bathroom project currently being installed.

As well as all the thinking,  I’ve also been wondering just what was on the mind of the creator of this stained glass window in my clients bathroom?

Hmm. Refer to pic 1?

To break up all the thinking, and all that wondering I do a fair bit of day dreaming too about schemes  I am working on…

So  day dreaming about just how awesome this wallpaper will look on the cathedral shaped ceiling in my clients bedroom. awesome!

And also day dreaming and about this scheme for a living room in an art deco house. so pretty!

So that’s it. Thats what is on my mind of late.

I’ve told you before that I am deep!

Glossies

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

And so this happened:

As found in the March 2012 issue of Home Beautiful Magazine .

I’ll admit it: I cant help but do a little happy dance and squeal with excitement when I see my name & work in glossy print!

Thank you HB for featuring my project and a HUGE thank you to my very lovely client for opening her home and allowing this to happen! I wont name you – but I know you silently lurk around this blog!

Before & After

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Recently I blogged about a chair makeover I undertook for an apartment project that I’ve been working on -a refresher on that here.

Taking advantage of my lovely photographer & friend Jacquie Melville’s flying visit back to my Melbourne town, (she moved to London on me – honestly how bloody rude!) I wanted to get a few projects properly photographed to update my website. And so I did!

I always find it interesting seeing before & after pictures of interior spaces – gives a great visual of just what a difference something like a paint colour makes! The before colour in this apartment was a blah nothing colour, and used on both the walls and ceiling.  Eh. A feature wall in a concrete finish had been added, but still the space was bland with no soul or warmth to it.  The existing furniture also wasn’t a good fit – literally. the sofa was too large for the wall it was placed on, so we re-homed most of it & set about creating a smart and sophisticated interior.

So… on with the pictures!

I really hope it’s obvious to you which are the before shots & which are the after! But just in case its not, I have labelled to save you the awkward moment!

As it was, and so it is

With my long absences from Designalogue, I kinda feel the need to prove that I am indeed keeping busy and not just ignoring the blogosphere.

So here is the proof. Some before and after pictures of recent projects:

um. In case you are wondering – This most certainly is a before shot.

And then after:

Bedroom before:

And yes. that IS a poem on the wall. (no apology from me for the blurryness of the picture -something about poems on walls gives me the shakes!)

Bedroom After:

The bedroom chandelier is a pretty special peice made from walnut and brass and uncovered in a marked in Italy by the clever Nicholas & Alistair

Now I’m on the blogging roll….onto another project:

A large living room that was quite open to the street and barren of furniture and personality:

(oh the red thing is not a vase or decoration…thats my handbag!)

And after….

That’s all from me for now. But I will be back tomorrow to share something else I’m quite excited about!

get striped

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Sneaking through a picture of a bed head that I have just had delivered to a clients apartment today.

I’ve been feeling the stripey vibe of late….so I ordered some extra fabric to use on my dining chairs.

Its made me happy!

Alive, un melted.

JUST in case you were starting to worry – all is well! I have made it through the ridiculous heat wave we have just gone through -just!

Now I am really busy catching up on all the work I should have done, but couldn’t do last week or I really would have melted!

So for now, I will just leave you with some gorgeous bedroom eye candy!

Can you imagine waking up to this puss cats kooky smile everyday?

M Group Architecture and Design

I wake up to the real thing, Trevurr the cat- often slapping me in the mouth and staring me down.

I have decided its not creepy, its just his very intense love for me!!!

Im checking in.

And good luck checking me outta there….

I spied this over at Dales’ HDI Blog and felt the need to on-share as it makes me sigh with a heart warming AHH. I love it. I love it. I just love it. I want to jump on that bed and wrap myself in the rainbow blanket before my eyes.

Hmm. Too much?

This bed of yum is one of Missoni’s ‘designer’ hotels set to open in both Edinburgh or Kuwait later in the year and also explains the Missoni product all over it!

I’m checking me in, but think I will head Edinburgh way, as Kuwait is still a little close to the action for my comfort!

You know, I’ve been pondering a lately: I wonder what it means that I am a girl who is pretty much dressed head to toe in black day after day -HATES wearing colour, but have decorated my own home with a HEAP of colour? Really, is there a psychological issue here?

Oh mother Oprah, show me the way…

Maybe she could do an ‘expose’ on people who need colour?

Just saying, thats all.

Oh and another thing I feel the need to on-share. In case you lot over in other parts of the blogosphere world think I’m all crazy with the spelling – fear not, here in Australia – we spell colour with the U in it.

We also drive on the other side of the road to you and supposedly our water goes down the drain clockwise to your anti-clockwise.

Don’t judge, diversity is a GOOD thing people!

Oh other non country specific spelling mistakes are just part of the quaint gal I am!!
