Yep, I’m still horsing around here – Oh that’s bad, real bad.

The Melbourne Spring racing carnival is still a happening in Melbourne town -so on with the ponies!

Its been a while between posts. Quite a while. So sorry for the trouble that would have occurred if you were holding your breath between postings!
Instead of making excuses for my loooong absence, I shall just proceed…..
Now, once again here at Designalogue blog, the subject of today’s post isn’t the most original or ground breaking subject to the blogosphere, in fact only just last week ever the fabulous Design Crisis did a post on this very topic – Scattered cluster art walls things. (yes, that IS the technical industry term used!)
But this posting is once again with purpose! The purpose being to show a lovely client of mine just how fabulous cluster walls of all different shapes and sizes can look! (and the double purpose of said lovely client then also feeling confident that its the right choice for her home!)
So, enough of my prattling and on with the eye candy:
Just a few pictures there to get the point well across!
Well thats all for now – I’m off to organize me a picnic! Fella & I are off for a loved up sunset cruise tonight on this!
So until next time peoples!
The subject of todays’ post is anything but a unique and groundbreaking subject matter to the regulars of the blogosphere.
But as well as the place of random eye candy and occasional life happenings updates, Designalogue is also a place where clients drop on in and see what I have been up to and see examples of the things that I have been prattling on to them about!
So today’s post is just that! For the lovely Mrs R – this is what I’ve been going on and on and on about!…
The rest of you are ofcourse more than welcome. so strap yourselves in – there is a whole lotta coming…
So then… banquet seating…
Strike the vinyl number found at the local pizza joint image from your mind. As the following eye candy will prove – banquet seating is suitable for all kinds of interiors.
Psst – I also want to point out with this picture just how well a banquet can be used with classic furniture pieces. Nothing screaming kitcheney in this lil number!
This is just a closer image of the same – just to get that point well & truly fixed in your mind! (though in the reality of this pic, I doubt the lamp could really be that close…elbows & animated conversation & all that!)
This next little lot give good examples of how custom made upholstered furniture pieces can be used as banquet seating. I say custom made due to table heights and table lengths.
These next lot of eye candy are examples of custom built in banquets: (side note -can be a good use for extra storage underneath!)

not sure where I found this!
Always a padded bench option… may look great in a picture, but personally just makes me think of sore backs!
These next are an example of purpose built installations:
OK, so yeah, this is the same room as above…a different angle…but the chairs are quite fabulous & deserve another look in!
And so that’s that subject done for now!! What do you say Mrs R – shall we do it?!!
Thoughts to share anyone?
The crazy heat still continuing here. Its just horrible. Today makes 3 days in a row of 43+ degree heat (109 F) Never (in the history recording time periods) in Melbourne has there been this kind of heat for so many days, which is why I am exceptionally whiny about it! -oh, and no respite till Sunday. Ew.
I have cancelled all client meetings, due to the fact that I have lost the ability to string sentences together, and kind of gone on strike today of doing any ‘real’ work that I’s need to be doing. So instead I thought I would waste me a lil time and find some eye candy pics to chill me out.
Sometimes, the only way to cool yourself off is to lie on the floor. So, with that in mind, I went searching for the right kind of floor to cool me down.
So starting with this number. Just perfect.
Cooling, soothing blue walls AND a snazzy silver leaf ceiling to gaze at, and if I get bored enough – I can count the silver leaf squares above me!
But I cant settle for the first offer, that would be unsportsman like -or perhaps just make a boring post!
So quickly moving on then….
The white tiled floor looks cool to the touch. Though I’m not quite sure about the doors.
I do love me some coloured glass, but this might just disturb my intended floor ‘zen’.
OH, I’ AM feeling the cross breeze here.
As a passionate lover of bamboo floors, (I will rant out the fabulousness of bamboo floors on another occasion – too hot to rant right now!) so I cant pass up an opportunity to roll and flail around on this one!
(kinda dig the sneaky red trim on the bottom of the sofa here too!)
I’m thinking that slate will definitely be cool to the touch. But the hairy creature (yak?) is freaking me out a little, and just imagine the damage those horns would do to me if say I went into a heat induced hallucination or something. So No thank you.
Bingo. Concrete. This is what I need.
Please excuse me for a moment whilst I make snow angel shapes on the cool concrete floor.
Hmm, but this one looks cooler – not as much direct sun so I think i might settle here for a while.
So don’t mind me, just step around if you need to. I may be here a while.
Today’s ‘Texture Junkie’ addiction is all about the feather: Cameroon Juju Hats - traditional wear for tribal chiefs and dignitaries during ceremonial events in Cameroon.
Ah just gorgeous! I need to get me one……..
Oh, so um yeah, this is my way of telling Fella that I have put on hold a Red Juju hat that I have loved loong long time!…and before the fella gets mad at me, lets take a moment and remember it IS Christmas, and then MY birthday AND, And I have worked very very very hard all year! And its Art!
And remember sweet fella- I love you!!
Psst – for the rest of you out there in the blogosphere-I’d really appreciate some help!!! If you comment about how fab they are – would really help me out!
And No its NOT manipulating, its educating!!!
So I’m STILL on the Spring carnival band wagon… turns out I may a little enthusiasm for it after all!
The big race is tomorrow, the one that its all about-’The Melbourne Cup’ – the race that stops a nation! -so they say! (Oh, did I mention Its even a public holiday!)
Of course its as much, well probably more so, about the ‘fillies’ in frocks than the ‘fillies’ on the field! But all I am interested in and scour the papers to see a glimpse of, are the corporate marquees. Big brand companies go ALL out in budget and fluff to create a super space of fabulousness!
Very often in the really fabulous marquees, the creative genius behind the design and implementation is clever lass Amanda Henderson, of Gloss Creative. She is a bit clever!
Check out a few pics from last years carnival -so you know what I am on about!:

Pics via Indesign here
Kinda heart breaking to think that these incredible spaces only exist for a few days…a bit sad really!
I was unable to find any images of this years fancey pants marquees, but I will keep you in the loop when I do!
So you have quite possibly seen all these pictures before -so apologies for hacking them out once again! But I would feel like a home town traitor if I didn’t spread the word!!
And so of course it has to be said, whilst we are here in lovely Melbourne town, where some horses are running around fast, A far more important race is nearing a close on the other side of the globe in the US.
So just a shout out to my blogger friends in the states: Please do me proud and vote right!
And by ‘right’ of course I mean left!!
Yay! Its Spring carnival here in My Melbourne town- woo hoo, yeah, yippee!
Did I sound excited? Does that pass as suitable enthusiasm? Hey, At least I’m trying!
It happens year after year, Melbourne goes MAD for the racing! -well, for a couple of days at least!
So to feign some interest but really to support my lovely Melbourne town, I have found a collection of gorgeousness with a common theme!
Hmm, it seems appropriate to say -’round up’ for this post!
Oh, isnt this just SO wrong that its just SO fabulous!!!
Ok, thats done. tick!
So now i am off into town to enjoy a fabulous Spring day in my Melbourne town!
I just love it. Its as simple as that!
And I still want more!
None other than Cole and Son ‘Malabar’ wallpaper
Hmm..I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something…my intention for this post was just to find some inspiration eye candy to give me a shot of yummy!
BUT… then I realised the images that I was collecting were all of desky work spaces. Hmm…what could this mean?
I wonder if its got anything to do with the current state of my desk which is currently sky high with crap and rendering me kinda unworkable? Ya think?
Anyway, here are some worky area eye candy so I can ponder them and perhaps plan for the overhaul that’s long overdue…
Oh, and I’m completely ignoring the impracticalities of some of these and just looking at the cool…
Psst – I think this desk by Robert Hirsh architects is just genius! It would be perfect for my little desk set up and could help in saving my sanity by being able to close up after a looong day! (as I work from home – this can sometimes be a sanity issue!)
